A project backlog answers “what remains for this outcome?” A Today list answers “what will I start before this day ends?” One task can appear in both views without becoming two records.

Preserve project ownership

Create and maintain the task under the project that owns its result. Add its details, links, and completion state there. When choosing it for today, use the task manager’s date or Today mechanism rather than copying the title into a daily list.

Things describes Today as a filter across the app: tasks can retain their project or area context while appearing in the day view. It also distinguishes a start date from a deadline. A deadline represents the date by which work must finish; selecting something for today is a plan to start it now.

Keep the daily list credible

Choose fewer items than the entire active backlog. Put externally constrained work first, then a meaningful next action from an important project. If an item cannot be done today because material or permission is missing, move it out and add the actual unblock action.

At day’s end, complete the original record or reschedule it. Do not leave one completed copy in Today and an open copy in the project.

Respect tool boundaries

Wallo has goals, priorities, and three-state to-dos, but no Today view, dates, deadlines, or calendar. If another task manager is your source of truth, keep daily selection there and use Wallo only for window organization when needed.
