To save each Keynote slide as its own image on a Mac, open the presentation and choose File > Export To > Images. Select the slides and image format in the export dialog, then choose a save location and export. Keynote creates image files for the chosen slides; it remembers the last slide range used, so check that setting before exporting again. Apple’s Keynote guide
Export slides as images on Mac
- Open the presentation in Keynote. If you want a separate copy of the deck in image form, exporting leaves the original presentation intact; changes to the exported copy do not change the Keynote file.
- From the macOS menu bar, choose File > Export To > Images.
- In the export options, choose the slides to include and select an image format. The available format and quality controls may depend on your Keynote version. Apple describes choosing an image format and notes that higher image quality creates larger files; its current Mac guide does not enumerate the formats in the menu.
- Click Next, enter a name for the exported files, and choose a destination in the save dialog. Click Export to finish.
The result is a collection of image files, rather than one image containing the whole presentation. Use a destination folder that is easy to find, such as a new folder in Documents or on the Desktop, especially when exporting many slides. Apple’s guide describes selecting a slide range and then choosing where to save the export. Apple Support: Export to PowerPoint or another file format in Keynote on Mac
Export the full deck or only selected slides
The Images export options let you choose which slides to export. For a complete deck, select the full presentation range. To export only a subset, enter the first and last slide numbers requested by the dialog. The precise labels may vary by Keynote version, so follow the range controls shown on your Mac.
Check the range each time you export. Keynote remembers the last slide range you set and applies it the next time you export that presentation. A previous partial export can therefore cause a later export to include only those slides, even when you intend to export the entire deck. Before clicking Export, verify that the chosen range matches your current task. Apple Support
Choose an image format and quality
Pick a format based on where the images will go. If the export dialog offers a quality setting, a higher setting generally means larger files, according to Apple. When file size matters, use a lower quality only if the result remains clear enough for its intended display or sharing use. If the images will be used in a workflow that requires a particular format, select that format in Keynote rather than assuming another app will convert them without a quality change.
Do not assume an image export offers a resolution field or transparent backgrounds. Apple documents a resolution menu and transparency controls for movie export, while its image-export instructions say to choose the slides and image format. Those controls are described for different export types; use only the options visible in the Images dialog. For a specific pixel size or transparency requirement, check the dialog and your intended destination’s requirements before relying on the output. Apple Support
Check the exported files
Open the destination folder in Finder and confirm that the expected slide files are present. Open a few images to inspect text, charts, and layout at the size they will be viewed. If some slides are missing, return to File > Export To > Images and check the remembered range. If the images are too large to share conveniently, export again with a lower quality setting if Keynote offers one; Apple notes that higher image quality increases file size.
Use Images when you need individual slide graphics. PDF export has a different result: Apple says each slide appears on its own PDF page, which is useful when you want a single document to review or print, rather than a set of standalone image files. Apple Support
