A browser tab should become a separate window when the page needs to remain visible beside another app, move to another display, or participate in a cross-app project set. Splitting every tab creates more switching overhead, so start with the task.
Move the tab in Chrome
To create a new window, drag the tab outside the existing Chrome window and release it. To move it into an existing Chrome window, right-click the tab, choose Move tab to another window, and select the destination. Google notes that both windows must use the same Chrome profile for this menu operation.
You can select several tabs before using bulk move commands when a related set needs to travel together. Confirm that the destination profile and signed-in website identity are correct before moving account-sensitive work.
Split for a visible relationship
Detach the page when you need to compare two sites, read a source while writing, or place a dashboard beside an editor. Keep it as a tab when you will only visit it briefly or sequentially. A new window gains macOS placement and switching behavior but also adds another object to maintain.
Rejoin when the comparison ends
Move the tab back or close the window when the independent view no longer serves an active action. Save durable links and preserve unsaved web state before closing. Wallo can associate the resulting browser window with other project windows, but moving or reading its tabs remains a browser operation.
