To move a Mac window to another monitor, make sure the displays use an extended desktop, select the exact window, and drag its title bar across the boundary shown in Displays settings. Release only when enough of the window is visible on the destination.

Check the display map

Open Displays settings and arrange the display rectangles to match their physical positions. If the pointer crosses at an unexpected edge, fix the map before designing shortcuts around the mistake. Confirm which screen is primary and where the menu bar appears.

A full-screen window follows Spaces behavior and may need to exit full screen before an ordinary drag. Some nonstandard panels cannot be moved like document windows.

Use a shortcut for repeated moves

Rectangle, Raycast, and other window tools can expose move-to-display commands. Assign one global shortcut, verify its owner, and test with a disposable window. Record whether the command preserves size, maximizes the window, or cycles among displays.

Verify identity and destination

When two windows share a title, confirm content before moving. After the move, check the correct display, Space, size, and project membership. “Displays have separate Spaces” can change how Mission Control and full-screen windows appear on each monitor.

Moving is geometry, not project organization. Wallo can retain a current window under a goal, but it does not move the window between monitors. Use a placement tool only for the movement layer.
