Screen sharing changes a private desktop into a broadcast surface. Prepare the source and its surrounding windows before joining or pressing Share.
Choose the smallest useful scope
Share a browser tab for web content when supported, a specific app window for one application, and the entire screen only when the demonstration must cross windows. Google Meet offers tab, window, and entire-screen choices and notes that capabilities such as audio can differ by share type and macOS version.
Open the final document or demo state, increase text to a readable size, and close sensitive tabs, messages, account pages, and unrelated projects. Disable or manage notifications through the appropriate system setting. Keep the meeting window separate from the shared source to avoid mirroring.
Verify before presenting
Confirm macOS screen-sharing permission for the browser or meeting app and make sure the selected window is not minimized. Read the share-picker title and preview carefully. If using multiple displays, know which display contains the source and where presenter controls will remain visible.
Test the audience view
Use a safe rehearsal or a second authorized view to check cropping, audio, cursor visibility, and transitions. Stop sharing before opening another context.
